Personal Narrative Pre-Assessment

Tell me about your summer!!  Your first writing assignment will be to write about your summer vacation.  That may sound like something you have done EVERY year since Kindergarten.  The difference this year is that I want you to type your story and post it to our classroom google docs account.  Please be sure you write your story in narrative form using everything you know about personal narratives.


I can't wait to read about your adventures and tell you about my underwater adventure this summer!

Setting up our technology forum

This year we will be working on a number of websites to help us stay organized and strengthen our use of technology and the internet.  We will be using google docs in order to collaborate and share our work throughout the year.  You will need to sign up for a google docs account at home so that we can use it in class together.

          Welcome Back!!  As the summer draws to a close and we settle back into our school routines, I want to make sure you are prepared for this year's work ahead.

          Welcome to Sixth Grade! We are looking forward to working with you in creative and academically stimulating ways. We hope you have an enjoyable summer full of fun. Make sure to read every day! When those “back to School” sales brochures come to your door take advantage of the good prices. Below you will find our Sixth grade supplies list.

• 6 MARBLE Notebooks (You may need 2 – 3 more for cluster teachers)
• 2 yellow pads (8 ½” X 11”)
• 8 Two Pocket folders (2 red, 2 blue, 2 green, 2 yellow)
• 2 packages of sharpened pencils (wooden, #2) (3 for school, 1 for home)
• 2 packages of square “Post-It” notes (3” X 3”)
• 1 Package of Crayola or RoseArt Markers
• 1 Glue Sticks
• 1 small Elmer’s glue
• 1 pair of non-sharp small scissors
• 1 roll of Scotch tape
• 2 packs of black or blue ballpoint pens
• 3 dry erase markers/ 1 dry erase eraser
• 2 boxes of facial tissues
• 1 packages of baby wipes
• 1 rolls of paper towels
• 1 boxes of gallon size Ziploc baggies
• 2 packages of loose leaf paper
• 1 packages of construction paper
• 1 Hand Sanitizer (8 oz. or larger)
• 1 package of graph paper (1cm ONLY)
• 1 pack of index cards (small)
• 3 highlighters
• 1 protractor*
• 1 ruler with both inch and centimeter measurements
